Inspirational employee wins award for ‘Exceptional Newcomer’ in Wales Care Awards

Sean Doyle, employee at Options Kinsale, an independent children’s services provider situated in Llanerch-y-mor, Flintshire, has won an award in the category ‘Exceptional Newcomer’ at the Wales Care Awards.

Held in Cardiff City Hall on 17th November and organised by Care Forum Wales, the awards recognise exceptional work in the care sector.

Overcoming dyslexia and dyspraxia himself, Sean is able to empathise with those in his care and understands first-hand what it feels like to be in their shoes.

Options Kinsale, which is run by Options Autism and part of Outcomes First Group, provides residential care and education to boys and girls aged between 8 to 19 years of age who have a wide range of complex needs.

Starting work at Options Kinsale 18 months ago, Sean currently supports five young people who have autism, ADHD, learning disabilities and attachment disorders.

He commented: “I was in shock to find out that I had been shortlisted for an award, let alone winning it! I feel honoured to have attended such a fantastic evening and thrilled to have won this amazing award.

“I feel my past experiences have contributed to understanding the people I support and also helped create stronger relationships with them.

“It has always been my ambition to work within the care sector and I love to see all of the young people progress.”

Becky Farmer, Registered Manager at Options Kinsale said: “Sean ensures all the young people have a fulfilled life, full of opportunities that they have not experienced before and he shows total empathy to the young people, providing a warm, caring environment.

“We are so pleased for him and really feel he deserves this recognition for his hard work, dedication and care towards every single individual. Very well done!”
