Celebrating Learning Disability Week

It’s Learning Disability Week and we are celebrating the vital role relationships play in our services.
Damien has lived at The Old Vicarage in Uxbridge for 11 years. Damien is supported by his key worker John who plays a key role in supporting him.

“I talk to John about things that are on my mind, he helps me with this.”

Damien enjoys a very active life from going to the gym to attending social groups. He also enjoys going to the pub and to coffee shops with friends.

George is another Hillcrest client whose parents had this to say about his relationship with staff.

“They are very hands on and up beat. Since being with Hillcrest George now looks forward to being with his carers. He has good relationships with them all, they look out for him. George’s carers are friendly, nice people to be around.

They are trusted people. One of George’s carers is firm but fair with him. He sees the world through my son’s eyes. We are so happy to have found Hillcrest.”
Morris has lived at our West Sussex home Hillcrest Beachlands for over 14 years. Home Manager Jackie Cook explains why trust in relationship is vital:
“In his previous placement he was challenging and things didn’t go very well. Since he’s moved in with us, we have given him a reason to believe in us. And he is doing really well.”
