Title:           Head of English

Location:    Shifnal School, Shifnal, Shropshire

Salary:        £26,000 - £38,000 per annum

Hours:        40 hours per week Monday to Friday

Contract:    Permanent

As Head of English at Hillcrest Shifnal School, you will promote a relentless focus on the quality of education and delivery of a broad, balanced and relevant curriculum that meets the needs of children and young people along with producing positive outcomes. You must be willing to work with students with SEMH needs.  You will have a Degree and Teaching Qualifications and experience teaching English.

We are looking for the right person to join our close-knit team at Shifnal School and help develop and drive this aspect of our English Curriculum.

About the role: 

We require a Head of English who has the ability to make a significant contribution to our school. The successful candidate will be an innovative, reflective practitioner who can demonstrate the willingness to adapt and learn.

We are looking for an individual with high expectations and standards who can offer excellent behavioural management skills. An additional strength would be a creative, engaging approach to curriculum design and planning for pupils.

Who are we looking for?

The successful candidate may have industry experience and experience of working with young people with a range of complex learning needs. You will be able to demonstrate a working understanding of how these needs impact upon learning and behaviour in the classroom. You may have specialist knowledge and experience of working with children with social, emotional and behaviour difficulties.

We are looking for an individual who is able to help inspire and engage the young people that we serve. Previous experience of working in a SEMH environment would be desirable, excellent support skills and the right motivation, personal qualities and levels of resilience are also just as important.
