Position: School Caretaker

Hours: Full time, 37.5 hours per week

Salary: £17550 - £20,751

Location: Wessex Lodge School – Frome, Somerset

Do you love fixing things? The outdoors? Animals and Children? Do you want to have the autonomy to work across the School and its grounds to keep everything maintained and ensure that all safety procedures are followed and kept up to date? Wessex Lodge School is looking for a Caretaker who can work independently and part of a team and can help to keep our students safe and our grounds well maintained.

We are looking for a creative, active and organised Caretaker, who has a keen eye for detail for day-to-day repairs, completing risk assessments, checking equipment, carrying out our security and safety procedures and contributing to school development projects. You must have a keen interest in supporting an Educational setting and safeguarding our children. We are looking for candidates, who want to get involved, have their ideas heard, aren’t afraid of getting dirty on the farm or in workshops and who are resilient, active and caring. Previous experience with maintenance tasks is essential and working alongside children with Social, Emotional, Mental Heath (SEMH) Challenges is preferred.  

Wessex Lodge School comprises of three main sites: Wessex Lodge School, the main school where classroom based activities take place; The Arc, which is mainly for the younger children and Triskele Farm, an alternative provision which is Care farm around 20 minutes’ drive from the main site. We have grown to support 40 students, aged 8-18. The majority of these students are day placements. Each student has individual needs based on developmental challenges, Social Emotional Mental Health difficulties or Autism. We support them using individual plans and the THRIVE approach.

The established staff team come from a variety of previous occupations and have individual skills, which can be utilised within this school. It is an amazing team and the successful candidate will feel the family feel spirit and will be well supported within their role.
