Location:          Mountfield Heath School, Robertsbridge, East Sussex.

Salary:             Up to £16,000 dependent on experience

Hours:              Full Time, Monday to Friday

Contract:          Permanent, Term Time only

We are looking for a Teaching Assistant to join our team working at Mountfield Heath School, an independent special educational needs provision, for 32 pupils aged 5-12.  The successful candidate will support our teachers working alongside other support staff and therapists to deliver the curriculum and help nurture a therapeutic environment to meet a range of needs including social, emotional, behavioural, communication and learning difficulties.

About the role:

Working as a Teaching Assistant at Mountfield Heath School you will enhance the learning environment for our pupils, supporting our teachers to promote personal development and well-being for all.  You will help setup the classrooms, lead on small parts of lessons, keep accurate records to track pupil progress and contribute to lesson planning.  It is essential that you are aware of pupil progress and able to flag potential concerns.  Safeguarding the welfare of the young people in our care will be your primary responsibility.  Any experience of teaching would be an advantage but not essential.

About the Group:

We are part of Acorn Education and Care and can promise you plenty of challenges, and a rich variety of opportunities to develop your career.

We provide Education and Care across a number of schools and residential homes nationally. Our specialist SEN provision, coupled with our expertise within residential care means we offer thousands of vulnerable children across the UK a holistic, wraparound care, residential and education service, empowering them with everything they need to flourish. It is by no accident that 94% of our schools and homes are rated as 'Outstanding' or 'Good'.

We welcome staff who share our commitment to help children experience better days and better lives. Through ongoing development and training, we ensure our staff are well prepared for their jobs and given every opportunity to extend their skills.

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for an individual with high expectations and standards who can offer excellent behavioural management skills.  You will be working with young people who have complex needs and your ability to develop trusting relationships with the young people and staff will be crucial.  You will be able to reliably work to instruction as well as take the initiative when circumstances demand.  An interest in teaching and a desire to improve these students’ lives is essential.

The ability to contribute to the development of our school is essential and we believe that energy, passion and a commitment to high standards are key characteristics required.  We are looking for a special individual who is able to help inspire and re-engage the young people that we serve.  This is an opportunity for the successful candidate to develop their skills and experience in a challenging, motivating and highly rewarding environment.

Salary is £14,500 - £16,000 (actual) dependent on qualifications and experience.  This salary is actual and is not pro rata.  Staff are only required to work during term time, but are paid a full year salary.
