Be the person that changes lives for the better.

We are looking for someone who is passionate about working with challenging and disadvantaged young people to join our close-knit team at The Grange Therapeutic School. If you are looking to join a dedicated team in a challenging and rewarding environment, we would like to hear from you. There is rarely a clearer opportunity for someone to directly change the lives of young people than this post.

About the School:

The Grange is an 8-18 mixed gender SEMH SEN school on the Rutland / Leicestershire border with a strong emphasis on the care and welfare of its pupils. The school has a varied curriculum designed to meet the needs of the pupils, many of whom have secondary needs of ASD and ADHD.

This curriculum includes GCSEs, BTECs and Entry Level qualifications as well as a full vocational programme. At the last Ofsted the school was rated “Good” overall with “Outstanding” ratings for behaviour / welfare and leadership / management.

About the Group:

We are part of Acorn Education and Care, we can promise you plenty of challenges, and a rich variety of opportunities to develop your career.

We provide Education and Care across a number of schools and residential homes nationally. Our specialist SEN provision, coupled with our expertise within residential care means we offer thousands of vulnerable children and young people across the UK a holistic, wraparound care, residential and education service, empowering them with everything they need to flourish. It is by no accident that 94% of our homes are rated as Outstanding or Good.

We welcome staff who share our commitment to help children experience better days and better lives. Through ongoing development and training, we ensure our staff are well prepared for their jobs and given every opportunity to extend their skills.

Acorn Care and Education is part of the Outcomes First Group.

About the Role:

The role is to become an instructor in our Vocational Plus programme. This NASS award-winning programme entails working closely with families and individual pupils outside of the school environment on bespoke alternative programmes.  Staff deliver English and maths to GCSE as well as vocational and outdoor learning programmes to pupils often on a one to one basis during school hours. We will consider each applicant on their aptitude and what skills and qualifications, academic and vocational, they can offer.

In addition, the post holder is required to:

  • To encourage pupils in personal development, achievement and integration into The Grange Therapeutic School
  • To represent The Grange Therapeutic School and work as part of a multi-agency team along with parents and carers
  • To support pupils at college and other provisions

We are part of the Acorn Education and Care Group and can promise you plenty of challenges, and a rich variety of opportunities to develop your career.

Who we are looking for?

We are looking for an Instructor who wants to help pupils achieve academic and vocational qualifications.

No two days are the same at The Grange so we want staff who can work at pace to turn ‘can’t do’ into ‘want to’ and are motivated by working with children with special needs. You will be motivated by your belief that every child can achieve and reach their potential.  The ideal candidate will be resilient, have a calm and engaging demeanour and enjoy working with children. Whilst previous experience of working in within a SEN environment would be desirable, the right motivation, personal qualities and levels of resilience are just as important.

We offer a competitive salary including Staff Pension Scheme, a fantastic working environment and very supportive staff group.

Why work for us?

  • Continuous professional development & training for a clear career path
  • Opportunity to enrich the lives of young people and make a positive difference
  • Be part of a fantastic team who work hard together and support each other
  • No two days are ever the same

Acorn Education and Care are committed to the safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. All successful applicants will be subject to an Enhanced DBS Check
