About the Group

Acorn Education and Care provide education and care across 21 schools and 19 residential care homes nationally. Our vision is to build incredible futures by empowering vulnerable young people in the UK to be happy and make their way in the world. Every day we improve the lives of thousands of young people, their families and communities through relentless focus on caring and learning.

About the role

You will be responsible for planning and delivering an Early Years / KS1 curriculum in our nurture class for students who are behind age related expectations.  Differentiation and individualised learning strategies are vital skills required to meet the needs of all our pupils who will have had varying degrees of success in their educational lives. Our aim is to change young people’s lives and we will always provide our pupils with the best possible opportunities to succeed beyond Medway Green School.  You will be enthusiastic, able to work effectively as part of a team and dedicated to making a difference to improving the lives of the young people that we support. The start date for this fantastic opportunity is January 2021

Who are we looking for?

Just as important as academic achievement is the social & emotional development of our pupils. We want our pupils to be successful citizens and positively contribute to their local communities, it will therefore be imperative to provide opportunities to advance these skills. Along with this, the use of personalised curriculums and positive reinforcement will underpin your everyday practice.

This can be a challenging environment and therefore, determination and resiliency are key characteristics for the post. We are seeking an experienced teacher with an understanding of Early Years and, or KS1 and an ability to interact with and motivate students diagnosed with SEMH and ASC, allowing the successful candidate to immediately form positive relationships and adapt to the needs of the pupils. However, we invest heavily in teacher development and want staff who endeavour to achieve more.  We often find that candidates who have succeeded in mainstream settings and are looking for a new challenge make excellent SEN teachers.  Therefore, applications are welcome from teachers with special needs or mainstream backgrounds.

If you are passionate about this truly unique and rewarding sector and have the energy, drive and desire to motivate our pupils and ensure they achieve the best possible outcomes, then we welcome your application.

Please note that Acorn Care and education operates an auto enrolment pension scheme.

The position is due to commence January 2021 (subject to approved reference/DBS checks).

Acorn Care and Education are committed to the safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. All successful applicants will be subject to an Enhanced DBS Check.
