We’re looking for Day and Night Residential childcare workers to join our friendly team at Barton School, in Lincolnshire. Someone who has an interest in working with vulnerable children and young people and who has some knowledge of Autism and the associated difficulties would be perfect for this role.

About the Service

Options Barton is a DfE registered school and OFSTED rated children’s home offering a purpose built service specially designed to meet the educational and development needs of the children in our care.

We provide care to children and young people with autism, Asperger’s Syndrome and associated difficulties. Based in Barton Upon Humber, North Lincolnshire, we are within easy reach of Barton, Scunthorpe, Doncaster, Hull and surrounding towns. Plus, 3 Months bridge toll paid if applicable.

Job Summary and Duties

As a Residential Support Worker, your role will involve supporting children and young people with autism, learning difficulties and complex needs. The position focuses on developing independent life skills through individually designed programmes.

This Day role is offered on a full time 40 hour per week contract on an agreed 2-week rolling day rota working 1.30pm – 10.30pm to include weekends and sleep-in duties. Please note however that during school holidays, our day shift runs 9.45am – 10.15pm. 

This Night role is offered on a full time 42 hour per week contract on an agreed 2 week rolling night rota working 10.00pm – 9.30am to include weekends. Please note however that during school holidays, our night shift runs 10.00pm – 10.00am. 

Following a thorough induction and training programme, your duties would include:

  • Promoting life skills and independence in the home, developing domestic and personal skills
  • Preparing for and encouraging morning routines
  • Managing complex and challenging behaviour
  • Documenting all children’s activities, reporting and recording key aspects of their care

Skills Required:

  • Be willing to study for or hold Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare or equivalent
  • Keen to work with children with complex and challenging behaviour
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Clear and concise written and verbal communication
  • Have the flexibility and willingness to work shifts, including weekends and sleep-in duties
