Hillcrest Shifnal School is an Ofsted ‘Good’ registered independent education campus offering a broad, balanced and relevant curriculum to boy and girls aged 5-19 years who have Social, Emotional and Mental health difficulties. Shifnal School strives to provide learning experiences and opportunities that will enhance the lives of all the students they educate; with the bespoke and balanced teaching provided it allows our students the ability to grow into confident and creative individuals. Hillcrest Children’s Services is a national provider of specialist therapeutic children’s homes and schools for boys and girls with social, emotional and mental health difficulties (SEMH). Our services offer a stable, secure and supportive environment, in which the children and young people we care for can develop the skills and confidence necessary to help them fulfil their potential.

Job Summary & Details

Working as Maintenance Technician you will support Hillcrest Shifnal School to maintain buildings and equipment to the high standards set by the company and external regulators. This role will require you to be adaptable and flexible as the jobs dictate your day. You will also have the ability to keep up to date written records alongside liaising with external professionals.

This role is offered on a full time basis 40 hours per week plus an additional paid on call duty.

As the Maintenance Technician, your duties may include:

  • Painting and Decorating of internal rooms and external areas
  • General repair works to damaged fixtures and fittings
  • Basic building works and carpentry repairs
  • Ground maintenance and gardening
  • Basic plumbing repairs and renewals
  • PAT testing
  • Have an awareness and empathy with the Service Users for whom the service is provided and to carry out duties mindful of their needs

Key Skills

  • Experience of General Maintenance /DIY
  • Knowledge of working to strict Health and Safety Guidelines
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Commitment to completing day to day tasks effectively and timely
  • Hold a Full valid UK driving licence and be prepared to drive as part of the job
