Salary: £18,610 - £23,853 depending on experience

Job Summary & Duties:

As a Therapy Assistant, you will work as part of a multidisciplinary clinical team under the supervision of a qualified Occupational therapist and Speech and Language therapist. This position focuses on supporting the delivery of a high quality educational and clinical provision within a day school setting.

This role is offered on a full time, permanent basis, looking for the post holder to start on 1st September 2020.

Following a thorough induction, your duties would include:

  • Observing and interacting with pupils offering support
  • Contributing to assessments and compiling reports
  • Maintaining accurate and comprehensive clinical records
  • Preparing therapy resources and equipment
  • Liaising with outside agencies and communicating as part of a multi-disciplinary service
  • Completing administrative duties to support the Clinical Team  
  • Maintaining and developing current knowledge of evidence-based practice, in particular conditions and presentations  

Key Skills Required

  • Experience of paid or voluntary work in an SEN setting and/or with young people/children with complex needs or behaviours that might challenge, ideally with knowledge of ASD and communication difficulties
  • Evidence of post 16 education
  • Use of reflective/analytical thinking in therapeutic work
  • Open to acquiring and implementing knowledge of legislation and implications for clinical practice and professional management of client groups
  • Clear and concise record keeping
  • Ability to work with behaviours that may challenge
