Teaching Assistant Talent Pool

Location:          The Wenlock School, Dudley

Salary:              £16,000 - £18,000 dependent on experience

Hours:              8.30am – 3.45pm, Monday to Friday

Contract:          Permanent, term time only

We are looking for Teaching Assistants to add to our Talent Pool for The Wenlock School.

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for candidates who have high expectations and standards who can offer excellent therapeutic and supportive skills. You will be working with young people who have complex needs and your ability to develop trusting relationships with the young people and staff will be crucial. You will be able to reliably work to instruction as well as take the initiative when circumstances demand. An interest in teaching and a desire to improve these pupil’s lives is essential.

The ability to contribute to the development of our outstanding school is essential and we believe that energy, passion and a commitment to high standards are key characteristics required.  We are looking for a special individual who is able to help inspire and re-engage the young people that we serve. 

This is an opportunity for the successful candidate to develop their skills and experience in a challenging, motivating and highly rewarding environment. Previous experience of working in a SEN environment would be desirable, excellent support skills and the right motivation, personal qualities and levels of resilience are also just as important.

About the School:

The Wenlock School opened in September 2018. We are a co-educational day school catering for pupils aged 7-18 with a range of complex needs including a range of social, emotional and mental health needs and also pupils who have been diagnosed with autism or demonstrate behaviours associated with autism. You will support our teachers to deliver the Curriculum and contribute to making Wenlock School an Outstanding provision and a leading light for our young people and their families. We provide a therapeutic, supportive and inclusive learning environment and are committed to raising achievement and enabling pupils to recognise their potential and supporting them through a personalised, engaging curriculum. Our priority is to develop the foundation knowledge and skills required to make a manageable and smooth transition to the next life stage.

About the Role:

We require inspirational Teaching Assistants, with relevant qualifications and experience, to support access to learning, on a 1:1 basis, for pupils with particularly complex learning and behavioural needs.  You will also provide general support to the class teacher and other education staff in the management of all pupils and the learning environment. Safeguarding the welfare of the young people in our care will be your primary responsibility.
