Repurposing Tech for Good

In collaboration with the Dream Big Trust, Outcomes First Group has initiated a programme focused on repurposing surplus electronic devices. These surplus devices, no longer needed primarily due to upgrades, are sold on eBay, with proceeds directed to the Dream Big Trust to support initiatives benefiting those in need.

The Dream Big Trust is a grant-giving charity, established by Outcomes First Group, to improve the lives of vulnerable children, young people, and adults.

The funds from the repurposed devices will help support more initiatives and make a significant difference in the lives of those we aim to help.

Since December 2020 the proceeds from the sale of electronic devices have been channelled into various projects. Such as:

Book Bundle Giveaway: providing book bundles to 70 nominated families to support literacy and education.

Food Vouchers: donating food vouchers to 168 families, helping to alleviate food insecurity during the holiday season.

Challenge Yourself Campaign: encouraging children, young people, and adults to take on new challenges, promoting physical activity and personal growth while raising funds for the Trust.

Support for Educational Programs: funding for tutoring services, educational materials, and extracurricular activities that enhance learning experiences.

Skills Development Workshops: workshops that equip individuals with essential skills for employment and personal development, covering topics such as digital literacy, vocational training, and soft skills development.

The repurposing of electronic devices has also resulted in significant environmental benefits:

E-Waste Reduction: A total of 848 devices were repurposed and sold which subsequently diverted approximately 1.5 tonnes of electronic waste from landfills. To put this into perspective, 1.5 tonnes of e-waste is equivalent to the weight of about 750 average-sized laptops (or the equivalent to the weight of approximately three adult male giraffes).

Emissions Avoided: Repurposing these devices resulted in an estimated reduction of 15,000kg of CO2 emissions. This is comparable to the energy consumption of an average household for one year.

By continuing this initiative, we promise to enhance our impact, promote sustainability, and contribute to a brighter future for vulnerable communities.
