Role: Children's Care Worker

Salary: £22,000.00 - £28,000.00 per annum

Hours: 40 hours per week – 8.00am – 4.00pm, Monday to Friday plus On Call

Location: Shropshire region and North Wales

The Opportunity

Working as Maintenance Professional you will support 8 local residential homes to maintain buildings and equipment to the high standards set by the company and external regulators. This role will require you to be adaptable and flexible as the jobs dictate your day. You will also have the ability to keep up to date written records alongside liaising with external professionals.

You may be required to work at any of our residential homes in the area which support children and young people with Social, Emotional, Mental Health. 

This role is offered on a permanent, full time basis, working 40 hours per week

In brief, the role will involve:

  • Supporting  the  maintenance  team  in  operating  the  day  to  day  response  and  planned  maintenance, refurbishment tasks and repairs for the School/Home
  • Maintaining the good reputation School/Home by maintaining buildings, equipment, plants and grounds to a high professional standard, ensuring they have a neat and tidy appearance at all times
  • Carrying  out  weekly  site  walks  to  record  and  report  any  Health  and  Safety  issues,  maintain  repairs  and general improvements to site
  • Ensuring  all  equipment  and  chemicals  are  used  and  handled  correctly  at  all  times,  in  accordance  with manufacturer’s instructions and COSHH Regulations
  • Having an awareness and empathy with the Service Users for whom the service is provided and to carry out duties being mindful of their needs.
  • Responding and supporting in emergencies and resolving any issues quickly to ensure the health and safety of the staff and children

Key Skills Required

  • Extensive experience of general maintenance
  • Previous experience of working to strict Health and Safety guidelines
  • A good knowledge of COSHH regulations
  • Commitment to completing day to day tasks effectively and timely
  • Full UK Driving licence required and you must be prepared to drive as part of the role

 

The Locations

Our local registered Children’s Homes are in the Shropshire and North Wales areas and offer residential care for children & young people with social, emotional and mental health difficulties (SEMH).

The homes are within commutable distance from Telford, Stafford, Wrexham and surrounds.
