Job Title:          Residential Care Worker

Location:          The Grange Therapeutic School, Oakham, Leicestershire, LE15 8LY

Salary:              £20, 705 per annum

Hours:               42.5 hours per week Term Time only

                          Shifts rotate generally 12.00hrs – 22.00hrs Monday – Thursday with one in four Sunday evenings.

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Residential Support Worker to join our close-knit team at The Grange Therapeutic School, Leicestershire. We are looking for an enthusiastic person who will participate in all aspects of work in a residential childcare setting.

About the School and our Residential Homes:

We are specialist provision for boys and girls with Education Health Care Plans for social emotional and mental needs aged 8-18. We are situated in the beautiful Leicestershire countryside, with close access to major roads, in a Victorian country house. We have with fantastic facilities to develop not only the educational, but also the social and emotional needs of our pupils. With access to woods and lakes on site, the school has an ethos about delivering a personalised curriculum tailored to and driven by the individuals.

Our registered independent children’s homes offer residential care for children & young people with social, emotional and mental health difficulties (SEMH). This means that the Children we care for may have experienced challenging or traumatic upbringings and may have difficulties with anxiety, mental health or in some cases self-harm. That’s why we’re looking for calm, conscientious and kind people who can take care of the needs of the children and offer the vital help that can transform their lives!

About the Role:

As a Children’s Support Worker, you will work directly with vulnerable children with SEMH challenges. Daily tasks involve providing them with the care, support and opportunities they need to be happy, healthy and to make their way in the world. You will work with our multi-disciplinary and therapy team to contribute to the individual Quality of Life Plans and provide a balanced programme of personal development focusing on social skills, independence and community involvement, enabling the young people to achieve their full potential. You will also be responsible for chaperoning the children to appointments and activities such as shopping or trips to the zoo, completing relevant paperwork, undertaking household tasks, personal care and where appropriate administering medication.

Your empathy and warmth are just what’s needed in this rewarding role, working as part of an incredible team of committed care workers to help vulnerable children and young people feel safe and secure as they build the skills they need for life.

You’ll be friendly, patient, kind and considerate as you help them learn, making sure they’re well looked after whenever they’re in our care. You’ll love giving them space to grow and thrive, playing your part in creating a nurturing environment in which they can fulfil their potential.

Great communication skills are essential, as you’ll be in close contact with the children you care for daily. In this role, warm and welcoming smiles really matter!
