Salary:                £25,000 - £45,000 per annum, dependent on experience (pro rata)

This is an exciting, new opportunity for an experienced Occupational Therapist to join our Higford School team, based in near Shifnal.  An ideal opportunity for those who would be excited by creating a nationally important resource with the substantial backing of a leading provider of education and care for children, young people, and adults with complex needs.

About the Role

You will be responsible for supporting a team of school-based Occupational therapists.  Providing a specialist occupational therapy service to children and young people with autism and learning difficulties, undertaking assessments of students with diverse presentations to identify their individual sensory, physical, social and environmental needs.  You will support the development and delivery of individualised intervention programmes to help learning and to enable meaningful engagement and participation in activities, social interaction and relationships. Modelling standards of best practice and the principles of Clinical Governance within your professional activities. Working closely with occupational therapy colleagues with regular supervision and discussions around CPD opportunities. You will be part of our specialist in house clinical team which comprises of Clinical Psychologists, Speech and Language Therapists, Dance and Movement Therapists, Counsellors, Music Therapist and Psychotherapists.

Location: Higford School, Nr Shifnal -  Options Higford is a school for children with an autistic spectrum condition and additional complex needs, including learning disability, medical conditions (such as epilepsy) and trauma. Catering for pupils aged 8-19 years old.

Essential Criteria:

  • Recognised and relevant Occupational Therapist degree
  • Valid and up to date HCPC registration
  • Driving licence and access to vehicle (Desireable)
  • Experience working with Children and Young People with Autism
  • Experience of working within an educational setting would be advantageous
