Role: Placement Social Worker – Creative Care Solutions Practitioner
Location: Home Based with some minimal travel
Contract Type: Permanent (Full and Part time hours considered)
Salary: Up to £34,500 to £39,675 with non-contractual bonus scheme
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced social worker to play a key role in the ongoing development of new projects within the Creative Care Solution service.
The role of a Placement Social Worker - Creative Care Solutions will be to identify, plan, and deliver creative care solutions and family finding, matching suitable and safe placements which take account of the needs of looked after children and young people and all members of a fostering household
The role requires creative thinking, close partnership working within a wider team and engaging directly with a large number of Local Authorities to provide fostering service solutions for children and young people. About the Role
This role within our Creative Care Solutions Service, covers the length and breadth of the UK and will work with all National Fostering Group agencies and Children’s Homes in our sister companies along with a wide range of Local Authorities. The team has a remit to design and deliver a growing range of non-geographic and specialist fostering service options for children and young people who require a creative approach to the care we provide. The service is responsible for:
- Bridge to Foster Our model for stepping young people into fostering services from children’s homes
- The Big Fostering Partnership – A partnership with five West Midlands LA’s
- Family Finding – Where we take a creative and different approach to finding children and young people fostering families.
- Care Pathways - Leading on National Fostering Group’s work with our Child Education & Care Division to support children and young people to move between our services
This role is pivotal in ensuring we provide an efficient, effective and market leading service to Local Authorities. You will be part of a committed team supporting Local Authorities to identify and place children and young people into safe, caring and protective households, including those children and young people with a wide variety of complex needs and adverse childhood experiences.
Reporting to the Head of Service you will be a part of a supportive management team and will regularly engage with our Regional Directors, Registered Managers, Team Managers, staff in our sister companies, Local Authority staff and our foster carers.
You will work with staff in our fostering agencies to match foster carers to children and young people developing creative and flexible packages of care. You will work with staff in residential children’s homes to complete Fostering Feasibility Assessments and direct work with children to support them to step down into nurturing fostering homes.
A huge part of this role is ensuring effective relationships are built and maintained with foster carers, management teams, referrals staff, SSWs and Local Authorities. All of this helps us deliver a market leading fostering service and be agency of choice for many Local Authorities.

Who we are looking for
We are looking for a committed and passionate individual with a working knowledge of fostering services and previous experience of the coordination of packages of care for children and young people. You will be driven, creative and dynamic to ensure our referrals turn into success stories for children and young people.
Communication is essential to this role so we need someone who will be at ease building and maintaining established relationships with multi-disciplinary stakeholders. You will engage with directors and managers across the fostering agencies and be confident to influence decisions ensuring our children and young people are at the heart of everything we do.
- Professional experience in a children’s service setting
- Working knowledge of fostering services and Fostering Regulations is preferable
- Insight into contractual relationships between the private and public services
- Ability to use ICT effectively to fulfil job responsibilities
