We’re looking for a Child Support Worker to join our School in Falkland, Fife. Someone with relevant experience of Autistic Spectrum disorder would be perfect for this role.

About the School:

Falkland House School is an in independent residential school for boys from primary to aged 18 years.  Our pupils have a range of Additional Support Needs including emotional and behavioural difficulties and Autistic Spectrum Disorder.  We were the first independent school in Scotland (outside of the NAS) to receive accreditation from the National Autistic Society.

About the Role:

During term time, you will work every second weekend, Friday to Sunday 21:30 – 08:30 (wakened night shift). The alternate week, you will work Wednesday to Friday 07:30 – 22:00. During the school holidays, of which there are 13 weeks, you will share nights shift duties with another member of staff, 4 shifts one week and then 3 the next (Monday to Sunday 21:30 – 08:30).

Day shift responsibilities will include working with the children within their day to day lives, doing activities with them and providing any emotional support they may require. A key responsibility is to safeguard all who are in our care and ensure they are safe and healthy. The successful candidate will also provide behavioural support within the classroom. Depending on experience this may also include learning support.

Night shift responsibilities will include undertaking regular checks on pupils and keep night logs and registers updated.  Light cleaning duties will be required.

Essential Criteria:

  • Ability to remain awake all night to ensure the safety and protection of pupils overnight
  • Driver of manual vehicles
  • Willing to work towards necessary qualifications in accordance with the minimum requirement for registration as determined the Scottish Social Services Council.
