Role:                     Art Psychotherapist or Play Therapist

Location:             Waterlooville/Hayling Island

Salary:                  £31,000 - £36,000 FTE        

Contract:             12 Months Maternity Cover; Flexible for either full time or part time applications

We are currently have an opportunity for an Art Psychotherapist or a Play Therapist to join the Outcomes First Group to cover a maternity leave

The successful applicant will be part of a developing Clinical Team consisting of Psychotherapists, Psychologists, Speech and Language Therapists and Occupational Therapy across the Waterlooville/Hayling Island region, located at Jubilee School, Waterloovile, providing therapeutic services to both the school and 5 residential homes in the area.

Someone with a holistic and integrated approach to care, education and clinical services would be perfect for this role.  An enthusiasm to learn and work as part of a busy team is essential. You will also need to have good communication skills and be confident in your computer skills.

About The Role

The Therapist post is fully embedded into a multi-disciplinary team providing a rich variety of experience and development opportunities. Clinical work will be in the areas of mental health, developmental trauma, autism, challenging behaviour, and complex learning needs. The post holder’s main responsibilities will be as follows;

  • To work under the supervision of the Clinical Lead
  • To provide individual therapeutic support to some young people
  • To provide systemic support to the school and homes through Reflective Practice and Team Around the Child (TAC) meetings.
  • To offer therapeutic/clinical training to all staff within the region
  • To develop individual and/or group work with the children, young people and/or adults we support as appropriate and under agreement and supervision of the more senior psychologist.
  • To contribute to psychological assessments to include psychometric testing, observations, and self-report measures, based on the use of psychological assessments, including semi-structured interviews with the children, young people and/or adults we support, their families, care and education staff.
  • To attend and contribute to multi agency meetings where deemed appropriate
  • To provide Therapeutic reports for statutory reviews such as EHCP reviews, looked After Child reviews and Personal Education Plans
  • To observe and interact with the individuals we support, providing observation and interaction reports to the Clinical Team.
  • Follow up discussions with staff members and children, young people and/or adults to provide support and monitor progress

We are looking to recruit an innovative and creative practitioner who is hoping to develop further a career in psychology and with a desire to improve the outcomes of young people within our services. The desired post holder should be able to work independently as agreed under supervision and have team working qualities.

  • Experience of working as part of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Recognised Psychotherapy/Play Therapy Qualification
  • Full membership of recognised Psychotherapist’s/Play Therapist’s professional body
  • Experience of group and or individual therapeutic contact
  • Experience of teaching, training and clinical supervision
  • Good communication and report writing skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Full UK driver’s license and access to a car
