Behaviour & Wellbeing Mentor
Location: The Shires, Oakham, Leicestershire.
Salary: £17,000 - £19,000 per annum
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Contract: Permanent, Term Time only

We are looking for a Behaviour Mentor to join our growing Pastoral team.
About the School:
The Shires consists of 4 sites all within a 15 minute walk of one another. The Shires Stretton is Special Education Needs (SEN) School and residential home within the Acorn Care and Education and NFA Group-the UK's largest, Independent Children's service group. We cater for young people aged 11-19 who have been diagnosed with Autism and may have accompanying learning disabilities, behavioural problems or medical conditions.
The ethos of the Shires is very much characterised by a 'Can do' attitude. Staff share the value of creating a home for children that is not institutionalised and reflects a family atmosphere. they cater for the children on an individual basis and ensure they all receive the support they need.

About the Role:
The post holder will work closely with challenging pupils, guiding and managing their behaviour both on and offsite. The role requires responding to challenging behaviour and providing support in school dealing with incidents but also mentoring pupils and coaching them to prevent future incidents.
The post holder will be expected to look beyond the surface behaviour to look for solution – not just asking “what is happening?” but also “why?”
