Salary:                   £25,000 - £40,000 per annum

Underley Garden seeks an enthusiastic teacher who can inspire children and young people with complex learning through Maths and Science. Our children and young people need engaging, creative, practical learning and so delivering staff need the ability to thrive in a flexible curriculum structure and fully utilise our fantastic facilities to offer personalised programmes.

Delivering staff at UG are encouraged to take a creative approach, seeking ways to positively engage with and motivate all children and young people through sessions that promote learning as well as offer experiences, develop independence and promote life skills.

This teacher position covers the planning and delivery of lessons to all of the children and young people who attend UG and so the successful candidate must commit to getting to know the needs and abilities of all prior to planning educational activities.

Although this is an advert for a Maths and Science Teacher, there may be other aspects of the curriculum that mahy be required to teach.

About us:

The young people who attend Underley Garden all have an EHCP. Underley Garden meets the needs of a range of SEN including; Autism, Learning Difficulties, Mental Health & Medical needs and related behavioural difficulties.

The cohort you will teach as our maths and science teacher are predominantly Key stage 3 and 4 with a diagnoses of autism, as well as presenting with SEMH behaviours, which can be challenging. 

For over 16 years Options Autism have provided care and education to children, young people and adults with autism, complex needs and learning difficulties. As part of Outcomes First Group we are leading our sector in setting and delivering new approaches that provide measurable outcomes for those in our care.

  • QTS or other equivalent teaching qualification
  • A deeply held conviction that every child can achieve and reach their potential;

  • Ability to be adaptable in a fast-paced extremely environment;
  • Commitment to the safeguarding and welfare of all children;
  • Excellent classroom practitioner;
  • Excellent team player;
  • Ability to work successfully with young people with challenging behaviour;

  • Ability to work on own initiative;
  • Willing to undertake training
  • Experience with SEMH and PRU environments
