As part of our continued growth, we are keen to appoint a highly motivated and inspiring SENCO who has a passion for working with vulnerable children to ensure that they receive the education they deserve.  The successful candidate will bring an innovative and creative approach to supporting the strategic direction and development of the SEN provision at The Wenlock School, whilst effectively managing and developing the progress and achievement of our pupils. The Wenlock School opened in September 2018. We are a co-educational day school catering for pupils aged 7-18 with a range of complex needs including a range of social, emotional and mental health needs and also pupils who have been diagnosed with autism or demonstrate behaviours associated with autism. You will contribute to making Wenlock School an Outstanding provision and a leading light for our young people and their families. We provide a therapeutic, supportive and inclusive learning environment and are committed to raising achievement and enabling pupils to recognise their potential and supporting them through a personalised, engaging curriculum. Our priority is to develop the foundation knowledge and skills required to make a manageable and smooth transition to the next life stage.

We are looking to welcome an outstanding, innovative and determined teacher to be responsible for the strategic leadership development of Special Education Needs provision with the tenacity to turn ideas into reality. You should therefore have demonstrable experience in improving the quality of provision in an area you have led, in either a middle or senior leadership role, with a proven record of impact regarding SEN and success in achieving progress for disadvantaged students as well as strategic vision and commitment.

You would be an integral part of the Leadership Team, providing a high level of strategic, managerial and operational direction for the school, particularly in relation to the Quality of Education and will have the opportunity to impact significantly on the future direction and outcomes of the school.  

The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate excellent management, inter-personal and organisational skills with an ability to support teams in working together, showing commitment to ensuring equality of opportunity and accountability for all.
