Location:              The Grange Therapeutic School, Oakham

Salary:                   £24,000

Hours:                   37 per week (8.30am – 4.30pm Mon- Thurs, 8.30am – 4.00pm Friday)

Contract:              Permanent, Term-time only

Are you a Vocational Plus Instructor committed to improving the lives of children and young people?

We are looking for someone who is passionate about working with challenging and disadvantaged young people to join our close-knit team at The Grange Therapeutic School. If you are looking to join a dedicated team in a challenging and rewarding environment, we would like to hear from you. There is rarely a clearer opportunity for someone to directly change the lives of young people than this post. We are looking for an Instructor who wants to help pupils achieve academic and vocational qualifications.

No two days are the same at The Grange so we want staff who can work at pace to turn ‘can’t do’ into ‘want to’ and are motivated by working with children with special needs. You will be motivated by your belief that every child can achieve and reach their potential.  The ideal candidate will be resilient, have a calm and engaging demeanour and enjoy working with children. Whilst previous experience of working in within a SEN environment would be desirable, the right motivation, personal qualities and levels of resilience are just as important.

About the Role

The role is to become an instructor in our Vocational Plus programme. This NASS award-winning programme entails working closely with families and individual pupils outside of the school environment on bespoke alternative programmes.  Staff deliver English and maths to GCSE as well as vocational and outdoor learning programmes to pupils often on a one to one basis during school hours. We will consider each applicant on their aptitude and what skills and qualifications, academic and vocational, they can offer.

In addition, the post holder is required to:

  • To encourage pupils in personal development, achievement and integration into The Grange Therapeutic School
  • To represent The Grange Therapeutic School and work as part of a multi-agency team along with parents and carers
  • To support pupils at college and other provisions
