Speech and Language Therapist

£24k - £35k pro rata, dependent on experience

Permanent, 4 days per week (30 hours)

 

We currently have an excellent opportunity for a Speech and Language Therapist to join our North West clinical team as we expand our clinical provision.  For this role we can consider both experienced and newly qualified applicants.  Support for Dysphagia training available.

This is an exciting, new opportunity covering schools and residential settings across the North West from Stockport to Preston / Lancashire with a more centralised base in Rossendale.  Reporting into the Clinical Lead, (who is a qualified Speech and Language Therapist) the successful applicant will have excellent support within the role, the opportunity to build on any required competencies, plus access to our specialist internal SALT forum.

 

About the Role

You will provide specialist Speech and Language Therapy input to the children within our care, ensuring their well-being and best interests at all times. You will be involved in the development of diverse, effective and innovative approaches to support and develop the functional communication skills of children with complex communication needs.

In brief your role would involve

  • Performing Speech and Language Therapy assessments of clients with diverse presentations to identify needs and formulate intervention plans
  • Developing and supporting the delivery of individualised intervention programmes and/or group sessions using your knowledge of evidence based practice
  • Evaluating client progress, reassessing and updating intervention programmes as required
  • Providing advice, information and training to staff, other members of the multi-disciplinary support/ clinical wellbeing team, commissioners and other agencies relevant to developmental language disorder (DLD), autistic spectrum disorders, learning difficulties, attachment difficulties, and conditions.

 

Who we are looking for

As a qualified Speech and Language Therapist, the following criteria are essential:

  • Recognised and relevant Speech & Language Therapy degree, HCPC and RCSLT registration
  • Knowledge of a range of assessment tools and evidence of skilled application
  • Experience of multi-disciplinary and multi-agency work within a range of settings preferred
  • Previous relevant work experience with children
  • Car driver and valid UK driving licence required

Experience within our specialist client group of children who have SEMH needs is desirable
