Do you really care about making a difference to young people? If you really want to make your mark in a rapidly growing school that is committed to improving the lives of young people, we have the role for you!

We now have a fantastic opportunity for a Motor Vehicle Maintenance Instructor to join our close-knit and superb team at Bramfield House School in Suffolk.  The school is in the process of developing a purpose built facility ready for use in January 2021. We are looking for a knowledgeable and enthusiastic person with real life experience in vehicle maintenance to run our new vocational course. We want someone with great personality, who can interest and engage our boys and get them motivated.

Located in rural Suffolk, Bramfield House School is an independent residential special educational needs school for boys aged 7 – 16 years who have social, emotional, mental health, communication difficulties and associated challenging behaviours. All of our boys have had difficulties accessing mainstream settings and need just a bit more support to meet their potential.

The School has a committed and innovative multidisciplinary team, extensive site and excellent facilities to support both learning and extra-curricular activities; we are in a great position to provide our pupils with the best education and care possible. We need highly-motivated and enthusiastic individuals who want to make a real difference.

Our dedicated team work together to ensure successful outcomes for pupils who often arrive at the school with a troubled view of education and life. We pride ourselves in steering children in the right direction, nurturing aspiration to progress them both academically and socially to encourage them to take pride in their achievements. Socially, we build confidence in our students so they are able to have a greater understanding of the wider community in which they live.

We believe in developing boys as individuals and offering the best possible opportunities to succeed, we will not stop at anything to help each boy progress. We believe in précising tailoring our approaches to their needs and developing the whole child.

About the Role

The Instructor will successfully set a vision and targets for boys success.  They will be confident in using their knowledge and expertise to monitor progress, give regular feedback and encouraging our young people to take a responsible and conscientious attitude to their own work and study.

As an instructor you will seek ways to positively engage with and motivate boys through lessons that promote learning and raise levels of attainment. You will be creative, driven and ambitious for our boys. You will believe in them and commit to helping them achieve their goals.

Class sizes up to 6 pupils with a full time Youth Coach. The Instructor will also work collaboratively with colleagues  to set up appropriate qualification in the subject.

Who we are looking for?

We are looking for an instructor who wants to spend less time on paperwork and more time developing creative learning opportunities for the most reluctant learners. NQT will be considered, if the right candidate. You may not have a formal teaching qualification but you will be ambitious to complete your qualifications.

No two days are the same at Bramfield House so we want Instructors who can work at pace to turn ‘can’t do’ into ‘want to’ and are motivated by working with children with complex needs. You will be motivated by your belief that every child can achieve and reach their potential.  The ideal candidate will enjoy working with children in a calm and engaging demeanour, whilst being resilient using an innovative style of teaching motivated by your belief that every child can achieve and reach their potential. We want someone who places a focus on the positive outcomes of our children and takes responsibility for helping improve the lives of our young people.

Whilst previous experience of working in a SEN environment would be desirable, excellent personality, a sense of humour and man management skills are most important. The right motivation, personal qualities and levels of resilience are just as important as being qualified.
