We now have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Facilities Manager to join our brand new team at The Tower School. Someone who takes a more creative approach to maintenance would be perfect for this role.
About the School
The Tower School is a brand new, independent special day School for pupils aged 11-18 who have a primary diagnosis of Autism. Our dedicated team, work together to ensure successful outcomes for pupils who will often arrive at the school with a troubled view of education and life.
The Tower School site is currently going through significant refurbishment and is scheduled to open in early February 2021. It is based in Epping, Essex. It is located on Epping High Road within easy access of J26 of the M25 and Junction 5 of the M11. Epping is a lovely market town in Essex and just 17 miles (30 km) from the centre of London. It is surrounded by Epping Forest and the River Roding and River Lea valleys. The school is just a 10-minute walk from Epping station on the London Underground’s central line which will have you in London’s West End in under 50 minutes.

About the Role:
As Site Manager you will be responsible for undertaking basic maintenance and management tasks and will be accountable for the delivery of quality, efficient, collaborative support services to the site teams. Responsible for site safety, health and environmental compliance and supporting the senior leadership team in the continued development of best process and policy.
The successful candidate will be able to prepare and implement risk assessments and any recommendations and procedures. You will contribute to school development projects and general maintenance schedules whilst being sympathetic to environmental concerns regarding all aspects of the school and grounds. The ideal candidate needs to be a hands on individual who can develop and implement systems and procedures.
The successful candidate will assist the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) to ensure The Tower School is effectively managed and the requirements of Health & Safety legislation and school policy are understood and adhered to throughout.
The post holder must hold a clean driving licence, and live within reasonable distance of The Tower School (Travel time of 30 minutes).
Who we are looking for:
Someone who has experience of carrying out security procedures for buildings and grounds including checking doors, windows, fire exits, etc., for the purpose of school use. You will take part in out of school hour’s functions, maintenance, cleaning and emergency services. Also have experience in checking the proper operation and function of alarms and fire equipment and ensure emergency exits are not obstructed and be a good all round DIY’er.
No two days are the same at The Tower School, so we want someone who can work at pace to turn ‘can’t do’ into ‘want to’ and is motivated by working with children with complex needs. You will be motivated by your belief that every child can achieve and reach their potential. The ideal candidate will enjoy working with children in a calm and engaging demeanour.
- Site Management experience with comprehensive experience of Risk Assurance and Health and Safety Management covering such areas as Managing Contractors, Fire Safety and COSHH regulations.
- Strong project management skills, including liaising with statutory authorities.
- Good inter-personal skills to maintain good relationships with the local community, statutory authorities, contractors and staff.
- Comprehensive knowledge of current building regulations.
- Competent in the use of MS Office including Word, Excel and Outlook.
