Salary:                           Up to £50,000 dependent on experience

About the Group

We are part of the National Fostering Group.

Our highly skilled and dedicated fostering community supports Local Authorities by providing short or long-term foster placements for thousands of vulnerable children and teenagers throughout the UK. With 100% of our 28 regional fostering agencies officially recognised by Ofsted, Welsh and Scottish regulators as either ‘Outstanding’ or ‘Good’, it is perhaps not surprising that more people choose to foster with our fostering agencies than any other fostering provider in the UK.

About the role

The London & South East Region is an outstanding agency and the largest within the group. We cover the whole of London and South East of England and operate from 7 teams. This post is to manage our West Team which covers all of West London, Buckinghamshire and Slough.

This is an exciting opportunity to join this thriving Region and contribute to its growth in the West area. You will be home based with travel around the London & South East Region and occasional attendance at the Uxbridge office.

You will be joining a very supportive region with very experienced and skilled management staff and Practitioners.

The role will demand effective operational management skills in order to promote the delivery of outcomes to support vulnerable children and foster carers.

You will report to the Practice Manager and be accountable for developing and managing all aspects of fostering resources for West Team with focus on promoting outcomes for children and quality support to carers. You will supervise a group of Supervising Social Workers, Team Support worker and sessional workers. You will also work alongside our carer recruitment and assessment teams to grow the pool of carers in the West area.

Overarching responsibilities will include:

  • Providing quality service to carers to promote great outcomes for children & young people
  • Involvement in strategic planning and business development.
  • Close working relationship with placing Local authorities
  • Being responsible for the professional development of social work staff
  • Out of hours management support to staff including-on call rota to ensure a 24/7 service for carers.

Who we are looking for?

You must be a qualified Social Worker with significant experience in fostering service, preferably with experience at management level.  You will hold Social Care England registration and possess an excellent working knowledge of relevant legislations. You will be a strong communicator, with excellent written and excellent IT skills. You should have previous experience of working in a statutory children’s setting and an ability to work within a performance management framework.

The successful applicant will be expected to travel within the London and South East Region on a regular basis and to attend meetings with Local Authorities.
