We’re looking for a Residential Childcare worker to join our team at The Shires based in Stretton or Oakham. Someone who is motivated by helping others, patient and resilient would be perfect for this role.

About the School

The Shires consists of three sites all within a 15 minute drive of one another. We have two Special Educational Needs (SEN) Schools and 3 Residential homes.  We help care for and support 33 young people aged 11-19 who have been diagnosed with Autism and may have accompanying learning disabilities, behavioural problems or medical conditions.

The Shires currently has an exciting and challenging career opportunity for a Residential Child Care worker, to join the supportive and friendly team.

Shifts are from 20:45 until 08.45 on a rolling 4 night on, 4 night off rota.

During these hours you will be assisting the children throughout the night; help with morning and night routines, assist with any problems or personal care needs the young people may have, make sure the homes are clean and tidy and safeguard all the young people in our care.

Other duties include liaising with other staff, working to agreed care plans and keeping the home clean and tidy.

The Shires need responsible, friendly and caring individuals who has a passion for caring for and ultimately, making a difference to young lives. It will be a challenging yet rewarding role with the opportunity to see the young people progress and develop over time. We also need someone who can work well within a team, has great communication skills, can manage their workload and be prepared for the varying difficulties the role may present.
