We’re looking for a Bank Adult Care worker to join our bank team at Underley Garden School. Someone who is motivated by helping other, patient and resilient would be perfect for this role.
About the school
Underley Garden is a school and residential home within the Acorn Care and Education and NFA group, the UK’s largest, independent children’s services group. It is categorised as an Ofsted Outstanding School and Residential home, specialising in SEN Education and care.
The school and residential children's home cares for children and young adults with a range of complex needs, such as Autism, mental health problems and behavioural or learning difficulties. The aim of the site is to ensure that every young person’s education and care leads to better days and a better future. This is achievable due to a dedicated and supportive team who are passionate, reliable and understanding.
There are three Adult homes, which are part of Underley- one in Kirkby Lonsdale, one in Lindale, one in Grange-over-Sands. At times, you may be required to work across all three sites.
Underley is situated within a beautiful countryside setting, on the edge of the Lake District, near the town of Kirkby Lonsdale.
About the Group
We are part of Acorn Care and Education and can promise you plenty of challenges, and a rich variety of opportunities to develop your career.
We provide Education and Care across a number of schools and residential homes nationally. Our specialist SEN provision, coupled with our expertise within residential care means we offer thousands of vulnerable children and young people across the UK a holistic, wraparound care, residential and education service, empowering them with everything they need to flourish. It is by no accident that 94% of our homes are rated as Outstanding or Good.
We welcome staff who share our commitment to help children experience better days and better lives. Through ongoing development and training, we ensure our staff are well prepared for their jobs and given every opportunity to extend their skills.
About the role?
Do you want casual hours? To make a change to adult’s lives? Are you friendly, enthusiastic and caring? Yes? We want you!
Don’t worry about having any experience, we will train, support and promote you, to ensure you have an amazing career. Take our Assistant Head Craig, for example, who began his journey at Underley as a maintenance worker.

Also, you will be required to ensure the physical, emotional and personal care needs of all the adults are met, by referring to agreed care plans. This will enable the adults to retain as much responsibility for their own lives as possible and develop over time.
This role does come with some potential challenges such as long hours, behaviour management and ensuring the personal care of each person is upheld.
