We’re looking for 2 Adult Night support workers to join our team. One position will be based at Underley Garden and the other position will be based at Grange View.

Our adults have a range of complex needs associated with autism and learning disabilities, including complex communication, sensory and behavioural needs associated with their disabilities.

There are three adult homes, which are part of Options Autism- one in Kirkby Lonsdale, one in Lindale and one in Grange-over-Sands. At times, you may be required to work across all three sites however you will be predominantly based at one of the three sites.

All of our homes are for young adults with complex needs, who require close supervision and support from staff, but can complete some tasks independently or with little staff support. The young adults here enjoy having access to the local community, taking part in lots of activities and trips out.

About the Role

From day one, we will train and support you, ultimately developing you into a care professional.

As an Adult Support Worker, you will work 9pm until 9am 5 days on shift and 5 days off. You will also be required to attend 2 additional monthly training sessions.

During your night, you will be working with the adults within their night and morning routines; Cook with them, play games and do activities, help them get ready for bed and get up and ready in the morning and assist with the personal care and emotional support needs the Adults may have. A key responsibility is to Safeguard all who are in our care and ensure they are safe and healthy.

Other duties include liaising with other staff, working to a regularly updating agreed care plans other mandatory paperwork and keeping the home clean and tidy.

This is a challenging and physically demanding job but highly rewarding. All of our Adults have complex needs associated with autism, communication and learning disabilities. They can present with complex communication needs and challenging behaviour associated with their disability. You will be extensively trained in how to support our young people positively and how to intervene and deescalate situations as required.

Who we need

This role doesn’t require any experience, just an individual who is friendly, compassionate, resilient, and calm under pressure and who has the desire to learn and work with adults with complex needs.

In return, we will provide you with full training. This includes a week induction at the start of employment covering various training courses including MAPA, Autism awareness, Safeguarding and Medication awareness.

We also pay for and support you in obtaining a Level 3 Health and Social care qualification, if you are successful; you will be enrolled after your probation and will need to complete it within a year and a half.

Essential criteria


  • You must be willing to partake in physical intervention training and utilize this training, if needs must. 
  • You must be able to get to the site for shifts with ease. A driving licence is desirable in order to support young people to access activities and home visits.

There is further earning potential with every additional hour at £10.75ph.
