Hillcrest Glebedale School is an independent ‘Good’ Ofsted registered school supporting children and young people with social, emotional and Mental Health difficulties. The independently DfE education provision offers a bespoke approach to teaching all c30 pupils aged 7-19 years. Working with small class sizes, we provide a differentiated curriculum and progress pupils through entry level functional skills and GCSE qualifications. We are commutable from Stoke on Trent, Newcastle-under-Lyme, Hanley, Tunstall, Keele, Hanchurch, Hulme and other surrounding towns and villages.
Hillcrest Children’s Services is a national provider of specialist therapeutic children’s homes and schools for boys and girls with social, emotional and mental health difficulties (SEMH). Our services offer a stable, secure and supportive environment, in which the children and young people we care for can develop the skills and confidence necessary to help them fulfil their potential.
Job Summary and Duties:
Working as a Science Instructor for Glebedale School, you will deliver fun educational based learning which is tailored to each of our pupils to ensure they will achieve positive results. You will be working in partnership with your team to ensure the behaviours of the students are monitored and provide good channels of communication between the school, parents, residential staff and relevant multi-agencies. The role will be challenging but rewarding, working in a dynamic environment where you can make a real difference.
The post requires the teaching of Science to GCSE standard and therefore previous experience in this field is essential.
This is a full time, permanent position, working 37.5 hours per week and would suit an enthusiastic individual who is committed to ensuring all pupils achieve their academic potential.
Following a thorough induction programme, your duties will include:
- Planning, organising and delivering lessons and activities in specific subject areas
- Developing and implementing appropriate teaching programmes
- Building relationships with all young people, and encouraging their interest and participation in education.
- Organising the learning environments and resources
- Communicating effectively with all staff members to ensure a consistent approach to learning
Key Skills Required:
- Maths and English GCSE C/4 or above, or equivalent qualification
- Relevant experience of working within an education/residential setting
- Experience of planning, delivering and teaching lessons in specific subject areas (Science)
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
- Behaviour management
- Full UK driving licence desirable
