About the Home

Situated in a rural area of Otley, Leeds, The Thicket is a beautiful converted stone building with excellent facilities which have been purpose-built for adults with autistic spectrum conditions.  CQC rated Good the home offers a range of facilities to the residents including a sensory room and sensory garden, large outdoor and garden area, polytunnel for horticultural activities and more.

The Thicket offers adults with autism and complex needs the opportunity to develop their life skills and increase their confidence and emotional wellbeing. Importantly it focuses on community integration and inclusion, and is proud to see the residents lead happy, fulfilling lives.

Based in Otley the home is within commuting distance of, Yeadon, Guiseley, Horsforth, Ilkley, Leeds and surrounding areas.

About the Role

As a Bank Support Worker you will be involved in various activities to promote independent living for our adults with Autism.  A confident, caring and flexible approach is essential as we tailor our care to match individual needs to ensure the best possible outcomes for those in our care. 

This role is offered on a causal basis and as such is ideal for those looking for flexibility to work a variety of shifts.

Following a thorough induction and training programme, your duties will include:

·         Supporting adults at home and in the wider community

·         Developing personal and practical skills to enhance independent living

·         Encouraging participation in daily tasks

·         Reporting and recording key aspects of care

·         Managing complex and challenging behaviour

·         Working as part of a close knit team

 Essential Requirements

·        We can consider applicants with no previous industry experience, and experienced Support Workers for this role, the salary will vary dependent upon experience and qualifications already obtained

·         All applicants must be willing to work towards, or already hold the Level 2 Diploma is Health & Social Care (Adults)

·         Keen to learn with a positive, passionate and enthusiastic approach

·         Effective communication skills both written and verbal

·         Ability to record information accurately

·         Full UK driving licence
