We’re looking for a Speech & Language Therapist to join the Outcomes First Group to lead on Speech, Language & Communication Therapies within the East region.  The post holder will form part of the Wellbeing Hub across the East region.  Mainly situated at Acorn Park School, but providing a service to other schools, residential homes and if required fostering agencies within the region. Someone with a holistic and integrated approach to care, education and clinical services would be perfect for this role.

About the Role

You will have oversight of the assigned provision(s) speech, language & communication offer at a universal, targeted and specialist level of intervention, ensuring that the Statement of Purpose/Local Offer is achieved.

Duties will include; ensuring that a regular schedule of induction training in the chosen integrated care model is available and applied to all existing and joining staff, maintaining an accurate audit of need and evidence of fulfilment, processing referrals and assigning determined services in a timely fashion, being an efficient and effective budget holder for the specific modality ensuring that a high quality resourced environment is provided and maintained within the provision(s). 

The post holder will also be the direct Line Manager for any employed clinicians within the specific modality and be responsible for commissioning and processing additional services as identified via the referrals and admissions stages or as set out within children, young people and adult’s Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCP) or as and when a need arises.

If qualification/certification permits provide employed clinicians within the responsible modality with clinical supervision.

If time capacity permits provide a Speech & Language Therapy service within the designated provision(s). To work collaboratively to promote the wellbeing and best interests of children, young people and adults and the effectiveness of the service in achieving its aims and objectives; undertaking all aspects of speech and language therapy clinical duties, working within the ethical framework provided by the rules of professional conduct. To provide advice, information and training to staff, other members of the wellbeing/clinical team, commissioners and other agencies regarding the complex assessment and needs of children, young people and adult’s. To provide input to the wellbeing/clinical teams; supporting practice across the Outcomes First Group and contributing to the professional development of staff, research and dissemination of understanding, knowledge and good, evidence- based practice relevant to autism, learning difficulties, attachment behaviours and associated conditions including behaviours that challenge.

 

Who we are looking for

We are looking for a committed and enthusiastic Speech & Language Therapist who will be part of the multi-disciplinary team,  providing all levels of intervention to surrounding provisions within the Outcomes First Group, as such the post holder will need to have their own means of transport.

The post-holder will work independently within the overall framework of the service policies and procedures and support the integration of their specific service in the day to day running of each provision. A key aspect of the role will be ensuring the delivery of informed interventions at a universal, targeted and specialist level to support our wider teams in meeting our children, young peoples and adult’s needs and when assessed as necessary provide direct one to one sessions as part of the Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).

The role is required to take place in a range of settings across the group in overseeing and applying assessments and the delivery of therapeutic sessions as directed and supervised by the Regional Wellbeing Services Manager. Skills in the management of data are also important as the role includes collecting and analysing data to inform various pieces of service delivery, development and project work.

 

Essential Criteria (for a full list see the job description)

•            A recognised Speech & Language Therapist qualification with applied experience within a multi-disciplinary team

•            Experience of working with children, young people and/or adults

•            Demonstrable ability to complete clinical tasks

•            Ability to work collaboratively with a range of key partners

•            Ability to work sensitively with people and resolve conflict

•            This role can be considered as either a full time, or part time role
