New Business Manager at Autism School

2017 is looking positive for our Autism School Baston House which welcomes a new Business Manager to the team.

“Hello my name is Cara Jeffrey and I am the new School Business Manager. I feel very proud to have been offered the opportunity to come and work at Baston House School; and very excited about working with such a supportive and hardworking team.

Since joining I have been very fortunate to have spent some time in class with learners and it is evident that they are all such an asset to the school.

I have 17 years finance and business management experience, I have worked for two local authorities and major High Street banks. I decided 6 years ago to seek a career that would be challenging, inspiring and make each day unique, so I decided that the education sector would offer just that! I really wanted a career that would make good use of all my experience and knowledge but could also benefit our next generation of children.

As you maybe be aware from reading or hearing on the news; the pressures of managing a school budget are becoming ever more of a challenge; and schools must think of new efficient ways of working along with generating new income streams.

Some of my highlights so far since joining the education sector has been saving schools thousands of pounds a year in revenue expenditure and generating new income streams in the region of £62,000 per year.

The impact that this has on learners is amazing; it allows us to buy additional resources so that teachers can continually deliver outstanding lessons; and this gives our children the best possible opportunities in the future.

I have every intention in delivering this and I am incredibly excited about the future for Baston House.”

We wish Cara well in her new role.
