Learning and Development

At Outcomes First Group we promote a culture of continuous improvement in service delivery which pervades everything we do; including how we recruit, train and develop our staff throughout their career path with us as we continue to deliver award winning care and education.

Our commitment and investment in staff training and development exceeds minimum regulatory standards but this is an investment we are readily prepared to make in our staff as part of our strategy to deliver excellence in the sector.

Our training goes hand in hand with the needs of the specific services and each individual employee in a mutually beneficial partnership so that the organisation and staff develop and improve together.

Our commitment is to ensure that all employees complete mandatory, refresher and specialist training and have the opportunity to undertake developmental training opportunities to ensure they continue to achieve and perform to their full potential.

Our in house training programme ensures all employees are equipped with the knowledge and skills to manage a broad range of behaviours to ensure everyone’s safety in the workplace. Our specialist training courses include: Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare; Attachment Theory, Child Development, PACE, Complex Trauma and BILD accredited behaviour support – to name but a few.

Service specific training is also available covering both Children and Adults Health and Social Care and Educational qualifications at a variety of levels to meet the diverse roles of our employees and the diversity of our organisation.

Within our Options Autism division for example, a ‘Level 2 Certificate in Understanding Autism’ is available, which ensures that we are providing our staff with the knowledge, expertise and understanding to best support the people that live and learn with us.

All of our Options residential schools are currently completing the Trauma Informed Schools training course, with Baston House School and Hillingdon Manor School scheduled to take it in September 2019. To see more information about the course, please take a look here:

Within our Hillcrest division we have developed our own accredited qualification – ‘The Hillcrest Level 3 Diploma in Therapeutic Childcare and Reflective Practice’. This will ensure you are trained to a specialist level and are equipped with the necessary skills, knowledge and expertise to practice therapeutically within our residential childcare or educational settings. The course will give you an enhanced understanding of how children feel, think and behave in relation to the development of our brain and focus on the importance of ensuring the young people in our care feel safe.
