Hillcrest Park School Run for Life

Huge congratulations to the Park School staff who took part in the Run for Life. We hear from Fran Dix who inspired the team.

“In January of this year I lost my best friend Lisa to cancer. I could not have got through it without the support of the wonderful Park Ladies! In morning meeting one day I happened to mention my plan to run Race for Life, immediately these women were signing up too, 8 in total and one volunteering her daughter to the cause as well. Some of us began training…

On Saturday 28th June 2015, we completed the annual 5k Race for Life in aid of Cancer Research. We ran, we walked and we giggled our way round the hilly, muddy course, taking on obstacles en route. We were supported by the dedicated husbands and boyfriends – filming and taking photos. However, it was boys’ from Steps who gave us the most wonderful surprise. They turned up and cheered the whole team on from start to finish – mostly managing to avoid the mud.

It was an amazing morning (helped by the glorious weather) and there has been talk of doing it again next year! Most importantly because of the generosity of staff, students, friends and family we have been able to raise an estimated £800 (we’re all very impressed with how generous people have been) and just as importantly we have had a laugh along the way!”
